Something Special?

Do you folks figure that a Damascus blade would be a good looking knife for 'general purpose'.  Or, do you think that it is a little to pretentious/flashy.

Jay for what it's worth I think that would make one cool knife

Been meaning to get back to this thread. The steel looks great. After that it boils down to personally I would prefer a differrent blade design and will it hold edge. The first is just me and time will tell the second.

I like Damascus blades because they are almost all made one at a time 'by hand'. (I know... there's a machine involved, but the steel is worked by hand.) I don't find Damascus "pretentious".

As long as she stays keen, I can't see why not! It's certainly not pretentious.
