I picked up 50 Magtech 28g full length brass shell's a while ago, & was intending to use them for slug.

Well maybe not just for slug, but unless I win the Lottery, or a rich relative I don't know about dies and  leave me millions in his will, shooting slug  from my 28's, is probably the closest I shall  ever come to owning a double rifle.

So, 3 questions !.

1, Has anyone loaded these for slug or shot ?.

2, Does anyone make a 28g die set in 7/8" x 14, that will fit a standard rifle/pistol reloading press ?.

3, Am I wasting my time, have I wasted my money ?.

Many thanks !.
I cant believe in fate.
If the futures all worked out, horoscopes & all that, it means none of us are responsible for anything we do, it means we are just actors in a script written by someone else. I dont believe that.

If you are wasting your time and money, I have too! (That shouldn't be too much comfort!)

I'm doing some specific research at the moment, I'll get back when I have specific answers to your questions.

I love 28s, and I agree with you about this being as close as I will ever get to owning a double rifle.

Hmm... Had a post all typed up. Went into the 'ether'.

So... CH4D has 28ga dies - 3-die set - for $283.92. http://www.ch4d.com/products/dies/caliber-list?filter-col=caliber&filter=28+gauge That's not 'horrible', but high enough to make be look for alternatives. I think they have them in stock. However, by the time all the postage and other hoohah is paid, the total is probably up to $350 for you. I don't think these would be an easy resell if one decided to part with them, but I might be wrong. Especially for GB.

Since you have the cases, I'll tell you what j0e_bl0ggs and drinksgin always told me when I started to whine about die prices: "You have a lathe. Make a reamer to cut the die." Easy for others to say, but reality is, either get your wallet out or 'fill yer boots'. About the only other option is 'do without'.

If you want to go down the CH4D path, I'd be happy to help.

I just ordered a bunch of 28ga reloading components so I could reload my brass cases. The trouble for me is that my 28 ga is a sweetheart. I'm pretty sure I don't want to be slingin' lead balls down that gun's bores.

I made a .416 sleeve for a 16ga SxS. Love the cartridge. Love the idea. Shotgun stock is BRUTAL with rifle cartridge!

Don't know (or care to know), how 'legal' a rifled sleeve my be for you in Jolly ol' England, but it's a thought.
