Daryl (deceased)

I've had a lot of irons in the fire, of late.  No doubt about that.

I've had a lump under my jaw for some time; in fact, it's been there, albeit small, for 3 or 4 years.  Last spring it started getting bigger, and in July I saw a specialist, who took a biopsy of it.

That turned out consistent with "normal" swelling, and was not malignant.

But it kept getting bigger, so I called the doc's office a couple of weeks ago.  Long story short, he scheduled me to have it removed.

That happened yesterday, and while he did send it off for testing, he's still fairly sure it's not cancer.  If it was cancer, it would have undoubtedly shown up somewhere else by now, since it was a lymph node.

Which is good, and gives me a lot of relief.  I'll get the results of the tests next Friday.

I'm a little sore, and can't lift anything (per doc's instructions), which is very bad when you're moving to another state.

But at least the thing is gone, and we'll move on from here.

When it rains it pours it seems.

My Dad used to tell me, "It's never as bad as it seems right now." That is so often true.

Here's hoping things start looking up.

I remember once in my dad's real estate office, many years ago, a guy came in and started telling my dad about all the things that were wrong in his life.  It was quite a list.

When he finally finished telling dad all about it, dad said, "Man, that's GREAT to hear!"

The guy looked at dad quizzically, and said, "What do you mean?"

So dad explained, "Well, it sounds like you've finally reached bottom, so there's only one way to go from here, and that's back up!"

God never promised us that this life would be easy, that's for sure.

Lots to be thankful Daryl. Every time I go thru a hospital to visit someone less fortunate, I come out feeling pretty darn good about life.
