Post Wife camp.

Just got back from a four night wife camp, compared to say, boy's camp, wife camp is vastly different.
On a boy's camp, all the gear fits neatly in the rear of your vehicle, on a wife camp, every spare spot in the car is filled and you have a trailer piled high with every conceivable extra.

On boy's camp your toilet is a hole in the ground and a bath consists of a swim in the creek or a bucket wash, on wife camp, you have hot showers and a flushing toilet available or you don't go.

On boy's camp you sleep on a bit of foam with a sleeping bag, depending on the temperature, on wife camp you sleep on a queen size blow up mattress with clean sheets, pillows and a quilt.

On boy's camp you eat out of a can and whatever wanders into your sights, on wife camp you eat like a king, with all those pre-prepared favorites you like so much.

Every year we go on "wife camp", to a place of my wifes choosing, this year was the best yet, a four thousand acre property opened up to the public.
Even though there's no shooting it's just great to get out there in the bush, and on wife camp you do it in luxury!.

Here's a few pic's,

As a footnote, at this spot there were a lot of Indian Myna's,{an introduced bird, a real pest}, gee i wish i just had an air rifle, i could have knocked a few over, maybe next time.

Ah yes

We used to go to the state and federal parks for camping. turned out much like you describe.

After I convinced her to try my way we now canoe down rivers and camp on sandbars, we still carry a camp stool potty but that is about the only conssession. admittedly it is more comfortable during a call of nature.

Gee Fieldmorr77, couldn't you find a nice place to camp?

Where was that?

Agreed on the wife camp. I'll show this to my wife tonight and see if I can get a rise out of her.
As much as I love going camping with the family, the trips with "the boys" are so much easier. The only thing you left out is the half dozen rifles you each take along, just in case.

Beautiful spot Fieldmorr. Any fish in the creek?

I think you forgot about the changes of clothes - boys camp=zero, wife camp=depends on expected weather, who is likely to visit, whether you are likely to go into town for supplies, likliehood of swimming........

And don't start on the shoes!

Well, looks like you blokes know where i'm coming from by the sounds of those comments , my wife said this thread stank of sarcasm!, wonder where she got that idea.

This spot is a place called "Gordon country", it's about 27 k's east of Allora Qld, in the Goomburra valley, about a 2-3 hour drive from my place here on the northern edge of Brisbane.

The only fish i saw, were a few small natives, nothing of any size, but i would say there could have been a few Catfish eels there, and they are good eating.
