I fell into a good deal on some gunpowder the other day.  I ended up with a "few" pounds of H414 and IMR4320

I load for .223, 22-250, 308, 358, 9.3x57, 375 win, 338 win.

Does anyone have a favorite load for any of these calibers with these powders? Cast, jacketed, heavy or light, doesn't matter to me.

thanks

One or both powders will work in loads for most of the cartridges you list, but the question is pretty open and leaves a lot of options.

I'd try going to Hodgdon's website and take a look in their Data Center to see what you can find for your needs.  The website lists data for both powders, so you can compare and contrast the info to find the best load for your needs.

I don't use 4320 in any cartridges I reload, but do use H414 in my .17 Remington. About all I have to offer is that I find it very "dirty" in the .17 but it is the powder that gives me the smallest groups.

One .223 source quotes the following using  HMR 4320

     45 gn    27.5gn     @ 3200'

      50        27.5        @ 3250'

      55        27           @ 3100'

I am probably more interested in pushing a 165 grain bullet in the 308 with 4320 more than any other.

I didn't see much for 225 grains bulllets in 358 win with either one, which is another project this year.

Like I said it was a deal, but it there isn't a great load with either of this it is always good trading stock for someone shooting a 25-06 to 338-06 cartridges.

Thanks

Jeff
