Does anyone know if the barrels on the H&R Ultra Hunter a capable of being free floated? T/C did it with their Encore and the forend/barrel is free floated.

it can be semi-floated with the so-called o-ring trick and a little sanding. check out the NEF forum at graybeardoutdoors.com. it is THE NEF/h&r site. my son has a .308 win ultra heavy barrel. it hasn't been floated yet. shoots as is into sub-1.5 inches very consistently. it will do until after whitetail season. i got a .30-06 standard for Christmas. i had time to sight-in thursday with factory rem 150-grain core-lokts before hunting friday (didn't see a deer). it clearly is a sub-1.5 rifle with that one load. it also will get a little finagling- but after deer season. the o-ring trick is simple, but perklo and the guys at graybeard can explain it best.
good shooting.
