Now this is my idea of what is needed to get the job done.

OUCH!!!!!
I'm gonna guess thats about a 700 gr bullet and would need at least 150gr of powder and in that 13lb rifle, if it is pushing 1800fps would generate 94 pounds of recoil.  1500fps would give it 75 lbs of recoil.

how about a .40 caliber,  419gr at 3000fps? would that do for cottontails and squirrels?

Big gun with a BIG recoi! I'd go for a .416 Rigby and be set for any of the Dangerous 7 (Big 5 + the Hippo and Crocodile). grayghost

I think 2 rds from that 8 bore would give me a flinch for life as well as a dislocated shoulder.
