This is one of those little known rifles out of the Civil War.  I hope you enjoy the history.

Very cool. I see some similarities to a couple of other rifle designs. No one does anything in a vacuum.

I've heard rumors that Hiram's widow finally received a mere pittance from  Congress for the trapdoor design infringement by Allin.  Part of the foot-dragging was said to be from residual dislike for Berdan's war record.  Was he not relieved of command?
I've often wondered if Berdan or the Colt company had any hand in the development of the Berdan II.
