Default Moose antlers

I have a friend that belongs to the Mic Mac tribe over in Canada. Apparently over there they have a nice year round moose season. Over the years he has aquired many racks and just now decided to bring them back to his house over here In Manine. I think he has a couple truck loads of just his own and he says his friends have many more just laying around. While I was talking to him about them and asking to take a peek at some of them, he offered my pick of the ones he had already brought over the border. It was tough choice but I chose this pair. He had a bigger rack that probably had a 52-53" spread and around 26 points but it has sat in the sun for a long time and was pretty bleached. So I took the next biggest one which still had good color to it. This rack is just shy of 50" but I really like the dark brown. The TV in the picture is 37". I would say this rack weighs around 35lbs. This would actually be a pretty decent moose right here in maine. He did offer me a rack he already had mounted for himself with a spread in the mid 60's, but I could not take that from him!!!! Enjoy, God bless.

Those are pretty nice David.

I have only seen 3 or 4 moose since we moved to Colorado in '97. In Montana we used to see them quite often. Sometimes in the weirdest places!!!

Nice rack, David. I would like to shoot one like that. My wife wants the meat tho. She loves moose meat but won't touch the nicer looking varmints. ......Paul H

first season kicks off at the end of september and into october. week off then the second season, then, low and behold they have given us mainers a 3rd week to hunt that goes into deer season. that week should be really interesting as all the deer hunters who did not get picked run into the moose hunters!!!! I have a good friend with his first moose permit this year and he is pumped. the 30-378 is finally coming out of the cabinet if I can ever sell his VX-III he has on it now!!!! God bless.
