We had a bad virus hit the forum, and it's still being worked on. The damage has to be fixed, and security will be increased so that we (hopefully) won't have the problem again.
What you experienced might have been a temporary log-in problem that was fixed in the time between one computer and the other.
Anyway, that's my best guess.
