American Irish setters suffered the curse of "popularity", and were bred into idiocy. I had no idea what extraordinary dogs Irish Setters were until I saw a pair of them in England. Holy Cow! It was difficult to tell they were the same breed!

Can't argue with the Lab sentiment. I owned them for most of my life. I love 'em. However, now that I don't hunt upland birds or waterfowl anymore, I got a Scottish Terrier when my last Lab died. That Scotty is a RIOT! But the only hunting they do is for critters that "go to ground": Badgers, rabbits, etc.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32

"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful." ~ C.S. Lewis.
