Just a quick note to warn you about Sako rifles with stainless steel barrels sold after Feb 04 may explode after very few rounds.

This is very serious. Cases have been reported in the USA, Canada and Europe.

There appears to be over 40,000 barrels in question world wide.

If you own one DO NOT FIRE the gun for any reason until you are sure the gun is not involved in the recall.

I think this is the number to call to check on your gun, but dont expect them to be in any hurry. 1-800-503-8869

ps. Jay, no problem. I did not know where to post the first time anyway. Thanks for your help.

Jay Edward (deceased)

Thanks for the 'heads up' Allen.  I haven't seen something like this in some time.

Muzzleblast

Allen, I've seen the pictures under Sako KA-BOOM and was told it was in Australia, where I heard 3 have blown up so far. That one was a 300 Win and blew up on the 21st shot, I think.

SCARY!

Everyone with a Sako should call in and be safe!

Hi All,

Well I saw a figure of 80 mentioned as at risk, the photos I saw were from a .243" Win chambered one. The strange thing is that I sem to recall Beretta having this sort of problem with the 92 pistol and as you folks are aware Berreta now owns Sako/Tikka.

I am wondering here about cost cutting by the new owners? which if proved could be far more expensive than making them the old way as Tikka and Sako used to. It will be interestig to see what the outcome is in the end:confused:
Go Get them Floyd!

One of the links that I posted has been down for two days now. I found this at another place.

"Affects SS barreled Sako/Tikka rifles from about February 2004 on up, serial numbers 419140 to 461951. Contact Beretta USA @ 800 636 3420 for verification if your rifle is affected."

Be Safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR
