I mentioned the poor condition metalwork, well it's the blueing that has suffered as you will see:-
I am thinking this really needs a re-finish now
now there is no way that I can see a rifled barrel being safely screwed into or sleeved into this 12 bore shotgun. I just don't think that the barrel shoe joint will be strong enough and the walls of the shotgun barrel chamber are a little thin for cutting a thread into methinks. Tha actions apart form the Disc set striker in the breechface seem to be the same and I have been wondering if a new disc with a hole suitable for a rifle sized firing pin could be made and fitted. of course it will be a metric thread which complicates things on our old lathes and the thickness and support given to the disc by the breechface would need to be checked. So it looks like I need to make a wrench to unscrew one of the discs and have a closer look at it .
Your thoughts would be appreciated .
